Message from the Dean of the School of Health and Nursing Science

Let's become nursing professionals supporting people's health

The School of Health and Nursing Science was established as a four-year department in 2004, based on the Nursing College, which opened in 1996. Our school was founded to develop excellent nursing professionals who can respond to increasingly diverse and sophisticated health and welfare needs. As a core institution of health and nursing field, our school fulfills roles and functions for education, research, and training within the prefecture. Then we contribute to improving health and welfare of local communities and developing health and culture for people. Since its establishment, twenty years have passed and many graduates are currently working as nursing professionals. They are very active in hospitals, visiting nursing stations, prefectures, local governments, companies, welfare facilities and so on. Some work as school nurses to manage children's health at schools.

For those who wish to further deepen their practice and research in nursing, we offer the midwifery program and the master's and doctoral programs in the Graduate School of Health and Nursing. Graduates work as professionals and strive to improve the quality of health, medical care, and welfare in their local communities. Some of them are involved in educational research as university teachers.

Nursing professionals work tirelessly to promote people's health and well-being. To achieve those goals, it is important to learn proactively. Our school holds liberal arts seminars in small groups for first-year students so that they can learn independently and discover issues on their own. We also offer learning support called a student independent curriculum that emphasizes student independence. In order to provide better nursing care, it is necessary to respect and understand others holistically. We have a comprehensive curriculum that fosters a caring mindset and allows students to acquire a wide range of education and knowledge. Furthermore, we value global perspectives and put effort into programs for international exchange activities so that students will establish international careers.

Let's study health and nursing science to support people's health.
